One day, a vending machine in a nearby park was destroyed in a way I’d never seen before.

"There are so many tourists around here, and the number of foreigners has been increasing lately,"

I thought. "It was probably a foreigner who did something so violent.

This is a park where my son usually plays; the neighborhood is really going downhill."

......But why did I jump to the conclusion that it was a foreigner without any proof?

Then, what exactly is a "Japanese person"? Do Japanese people not do things like this?

What defines a Japanese person in the first place?

Is it someone whose parents are Japanese?

Is it someone born and raised in Japan?

Or is it simply someone with Japanese citizenship?
